German Christmas Market
Holding a glass of mulled wine and enjoying hot German sausages with family and friends under the Christmas tree is the simplest and most traditional romance of German Christmas. This weekend, we brought this romance from Europe to Guangzhou. Co-organized by InterCulture and the German Consulate General in Guangzhou, the 2021 German Christmas Market was successfully held on the afternoon of December 19 at InterCulture Space in Huangpu Ancient Port.
Guests entered the exhibition hall from the main entrance of InterCulture Space, visited the December exhibition "Joseph Beuys and documenta", and then entered the Christmas Market through the side gate of the ancestral hall. A brightly lit Christmas tree stood in front of the 400-year-old ancient ancestral hall. Guests wandered between the ancestral hall and the square, experiencing European culture blended in ancient Chinese architecture.
Famous German brands including Trolli, Paulaner, Wawi, Rainers, and Bäckerei Angermeier brought their signature products to the market. In addition, German grilled sausages and Turkish kebabs, popular in Berlin, were well-received by everyone. The air was filled with the aroma of mulled wine and grilled meat. All sales revenue was used for charity projects.
Red and green decorations swayed gently in the breeze. As night fell, the Christmas tree and stalls lit up with colorful lights. Local residents were curious and praised the real Christmas tree. Guests sipped wine and chatted with new and old friends, surrounded by a joyful Christmas atmosphere.
In one corner of the scene, there was an exquisite Christmas setting with elk and snowmen waiting for the main characters. At 5 pm, accompanied by cheerful Christmas carols, Santa Claus and Christmas elves stepped into the venue with bells. Smiling guests lined up to take photos with Santa Claus.
On a cold winter day, holding a sweet hot drink, enjoying hot and crispy barbecue, and clinking glasses with new friends amid children’s lively laughter to celebrate Christmas. The 400-year-old traditional Lingnan ancestral hall and the exotic German Christmas Market sparked amazing sparks. Many foreign guests said that the German Christmas Market was authentic in layout and atmosphere, making them feel the warmth of home and making up for the regret of not being able to go home for the festival due to the epidemic.
This was the first German Christmas Market in Guangzhou. May the pandemic be over by this time next year, and we will gather again!
