Polish Breakfast Concert

On the afternoon of May 28, 2022, the InterCulture Classic Concert co-hosted by InterCulture and Wenlifang Group was successfully held at InterCulture Space · Wenlifang. The concert invited artists who studied in Germany, Austria, the US and Poland to perform classical pieces on piano, violin and classical guitar. From Mozart to Piazzolla, from classical to modern schools, the one-hour concert spanned two centuries of art.

Consuls General and diplomats from Germany, Poland, Canada, South Korea and the Netherlands, as well as distinguished guests from Guangzhou’s music, culture and education sectors attended the concert. In his speech, the new Consul General of Germany in Guangzhou, Mr. Jan Lüdder, said: “Music often acts as a ‘bridge’, weaving together people from different backgrounds, paths and cultures. It helps cross cultural barriers and strikes the same emotions in people’s hearts. It is music that makes us realize how alike we all are.”

The concert opened with Mozart’s D Major Concerto for Two Pianos performed by Huang Peiyu, pianist and principal of Schumann Music School Germany, and Xie Jiayi, Grotrian-Steinweg artist. Violinist Liao Haoyue (graduated from Mozarteum University Salzburg) and Polish pianist Katarzyna Borek performed Tchaikovsky’s Reminiscences of an Old Place, Kreisler’s Tambourin Chinois, and Williams’ Schindler’s List.

Violinist Yuan Yuan (Chair of String Department, Sun Yat-sen University of Art) and classical guitarist Li Zhi played the passionate History of Tango. Li Zhi also performed Asturias (Leyenda). The concert concluded with Liszt’s Hungarian Rhapsody played by child prodigy pianist Wang Haozhou.

After the concert, guests applauded warmly. Consuls General and senior management of InterCulture and Wenlifang presented flowers and gifts to the artists. OJESH, a German luxury skincare brand, also presented skincare gift sets. Guests then enjoyed German delicacies and wine, sharing feelings inspired by the music.

Henry Wadsworth Longfellow wrote: “Music is the universal language of mankind.” Ludwig van Beethoven said: “Art unites the world, and even more so true artists.” Classical music transcends cultural barriers and connects people regardless of nationality, region, race or background. This is the vision of InterCulture in cultural exchange.
