Frankfurt Book Fair x Shenzhen ICIF

From May 23 to 27, 2024, the 20th China (Shenzhen) International Cultural Industry Fair was grandly held at Shenzhen World Exhibition & Convention Center.

Hosted jointly by InterCulture and D&R Business, and officially supported by Frankfurt Book Fair, Goethe-Institut and German Book Information Centre, "The Beauty of Books – Annual Art Exhibition of Frankfurt Best Books" officially debuted in Hall 10 of the Cultural Fair.

The exhibition selected a total of 114 award-winning works of Germany’s Most Beautiful Books from 2022 to 2024, covering literature, art, architecture, photography, design, picture books and other categories. It fully presented the top level of German book binding, layout aesthetics, paper craftsmanship and creative layout.

Breaking the traditional book display mode, the exhibition adopted an immersive combination of installation art and book display, presenting books as works of art in spatial design. It allowed visitors to go beyond simple reading and perceive the artistic value and cultural connotation of book design from vision, material, structure and layout.

Presided over by Dr. Jasmin Gong as academic host and Lin Jiangquan as curator, the event held book design forums, artist dialogues and professional guided tours, open to publishing practitioners, graphic designers, art teachers and students, and art lovers.

Taking the top international publishing IP Frankfurt Book Fair as a link, linked with the national cultural platform Shenzhen Cultural Fair, the exhibition deeply promoted exchanges and cooperation in Sino-German publishing culture, book design, creative art and cultural and creative industries, building an important window for long-term Sino-European design and cultural connection.
