Intercultural Day

The 4th Intercultural Day

THE GREAT OUTDOORS
Saturday, March 7, 2026
10:30–18:00
Venue: Canton Place, Guangzhou

Step into Canton Place on March 7,
and you are immediately immersed in Guangzhou’s relaxed, open, and international atmosphere.

The rhythmic drums of Lingnan lion and dragon dances had just faded away, when the vibrant beats of Ugandan dancers took over.
Nearby, the spinning kicks of Brazilian Capoeira drew curious crowds. The gentle guitar melodies of American country music flowed through the spring air.

A Russian acrobatic troupe displayed strength and elegance, while the Guangzhou Rhythm Band, formed by Chinese and European musicians, filled the space with jazz and blues. Members of the BreakSwing dance group invited the audience into the lively spirit of swing.

People from different countries, speaking different languages and representing different cultures, gathered naturally in the same square.
This was the 4th Intercultural Day.

For one day, around 5,000 residents, visitors, and members of Guangzhou’s international community came together in the Liede international district of Tianhe. And for a moment, the square became a true “World Living Room”.

A City Seeing the World in a Single Day

This year’s event featured more than 80 booths, bringing together cultures and lifestyles from around the globe into Guangzhou’s public urban space.

Consulates from Italy, Greece, the United States, Uganda, Türkiye, India, Nepal and Argentina set up booths, offering citizens a window into their countries.

At the Italian stand, visitors wore VR headsets to immerse themselves in the world of Caravaggio, one of Italy’s greatest artists.
At the Turkish booth, the classic Turkish ice-cream show entertained long lines of excited children.

International culture was no longer something distant to observe. It became something people could experience directly. International school students, expatriate residents, local families and city visitors all took part, creating a lively and authentic international community atmosphere.

Perhaps this is one of the most vivid expressions of Guangzhou’s global character.

Four Years of Growth: From 100 People to 5,000

One of the core initiators of the event, Dr. Jasmin Gong, founder of InterCulture, shared how the event evolved over four years.

The first edition featured only a dozen booths and just over 100 participants. Today, the event hosts more than 80 booths and over 5,000 visitors.

In just four years, a small cultural gathering has grown into an important public platform connecting Guangzhou’s international community.

Dr. Gong explained:
“A truly international city needs real spaces for exchange. Cultural dialogue is not only about presenting cultures, but about creating opportunities for different communities to connect.”

This year’s event also introduced dedicated areas for mobility, outdoor lifestyle, medical & wellness, consulting & professional services, dining, education, consulates, chambers of commerce, cultural institutions and NGOs — expanding cultural exchange from national representation to everyday lifestyle integration.

More Than a Festival — A Space for Connection

After the event, many participants shared their impressions.

One brand representative said:
“We originally just came to take a look, but by the end of the day we had met several people from different countries — and even potential future partners.”

Several consulate representatives also noted:
Events like this allow them to engage with local citizens in a more relaxed way beyond formal diplomatic settings.

One Consul General commented:
“At events like this, we don’t just introduce our culture — we also get to better understand the city and its people.”

For many expatriates living in Guangzhou
the day felt like a festival for the international community itself.

A foreign teacher who attended said:
“It reminds me of the city cultural festivals in Europe. Different cultures meeting naturally in one square — that atmosphere is really special.”

Why Cultural Exchange Can Become the Starting Point of Business Cooperation

InterCulture has long advocated a simple idea:
Culture builds relationships. And relationships eventually lead to cooperation.

For companies entering international markets, the biggest challenge is often not language or compliance — but cultural understanding and trust. Platforms like Intercultural Day provide a natural environment for such connections.

Here, companies can:

1.       Connect with consulates and chambers of commerce

2.       Interact with international schools and global communities

3.       Explore cooperation with institutions from different countries

Culture creates relationships, and relationships eventually lead to cooperation.

This year, several brands have already expressed interest in joining next year’s event.
As one business representative noted: “This doesn’t feel like a traditional trade fair. It feels like stepping into a real international community.”

InterCulture: Making International Cooperation Truly Happen

InterCulture is an international collaboration platform registered in Guangzhou and Berlin.
Over the years, InterCulture has focused on three key areas:

         Cross-Cultural Strategy

         International Collaboration Networks

         Cultural Exchange Platforms

Through cross-cultural consulting, international partnerships and public cultural initiatives, InterCulture helps companies and institutions build meaningful and long-term global connections.
Here, culture is not only art or performance. It is a language — and also a mechanism for cooperation.

Let the World Meet in Guangzhou

And Let Cooperation Begin Here

As Intercultural Day continues to grow, the event is gradually becoming a cultural symbol of Guangzhou’s international character.
Looking ahead, the organizers hope to expand the platform to include:
international dialogue forums
cross-cultural collaboration programs
global art and design exchanges

Turning this platform into a gateway for connections between cities, institutions and businesses.

We hope the world can meet in Guangzhou — and that cooperation can begin here.
